The Orchard Group is a turnkey, strategic advisory board that exists solely to support/advise the CEO. For a monthly fee, the three principals meet with the CEO (with or without the management team) twice a year or more for a full-day intensive meeting to determine the issues, plans, and timetables of ongoing initiatives. Between these sessions, one of the partners will meet with the CEO for a one-half day equivalent/month. This lead advisor, who will be chosen by the CEO, will act as liaison to the other members of the team for issues within their areas of expertise.
As with a traditional advisor, any of the members of the team will be available to the CEO as needed. The role of the chief contact advisor may rotate among the advisory board members as needs and issues change. The partners meet regularly to assure that everyone is always up-to-date on the immediate issues of the company.
For many CEOs, the lead advisor will offer support and advice on issues that arise around interactions with employees, investors, board members and customers. At his/her discretion, the CEO might use this resource to review personal priorities or identify and work on any aspects of his/her management style.
